Canada is one of the world's largest natural gas producers. The Énergie Saguenay project will create a link between the great quantities of natural gas from western Canada and the growing needs of foreign markets. The project will utilize both significant, available, existing natural gas line infrastructure in Canada combined with its new build natural gas line from Eastern Ontario to Saguenay. Gazoduq inc. is the company developing the new infrastructure.

After being sent to Saguenay, the natural gas will then be liquefied and shipped to global markets in specially-designed tankers.

LNG production and transportation are regulated by stringent international standards. That is why LNG tanks and tankers are designed to keep the cold inside and equipped with several detection systems for timely intervention in case of need.

It should be noted that the project does not involve natural gas exploration or exploitation within Quebec.
