GNL Québec announces three public information and consultation hearings for its Énergie Saguenay Project

Having submitted its Environmental Impact Study for the planned Énergie Saguenay natural gas liquefaction facility, GNL Québec will be holding three public information and consultation hearings with local communities. The hearings will take place in succession on May 7, 8 and 9, in La Baie, Saint-Fulgence, and Jonquière, respectively.
This process is consistent with the determination and purpose of the GNL Québec team since the very first day, in 2014, in an effort to put forth a high quality, economically beneficial project with the smallest footprint possible. The three hearings represent an opportunity for the Saguenay— Lac-Saint-Jean population to get a detailed look at the project, make their comments and suggestions, and have their questions answered in a constructive, open framework.

Participants will be invited to exchange with GNL Québec representatives about every aspect of the project, as well as the Environmental Impact Study conducted by WSP, in collaboration with the local firm Nutshimit-Nippour. As well, participants will be encouraged to share their concerns, ideas, thoughts, and suggestions about the project in a forum hosted by a facilitator. Drop-in daycare centres will be available at each hearing.

“We are resolute in our desire to elevate this project to the highest standards, from every angle. The information and consultation hearings we are announcing today are wholly in line with our vision of transparency, integrated approach, and continuous improvement in all facets of our project. We look forward to abundant and active participation from regional residents in these public hearings, as they are an essential part of a successful Énergie Saguenay project,” said Ms. Stéphanie Fortin, Communications and Community Relations Manager, GNL Québec.
